Welcome to the first week of Quarantine! It’s time to harness the power of color and design in your paintings! I hope you’re ready to make this time in lock-down creatively transformational. I’ve been busy for the last couple of weeks getting this course ready for launch in order to make sure that we as an artistic community continue to have a place to grow, learn, and share our artistic practice. Here’s an example of the kind of streaming video class that I will be teaching directly to your home or studio online!

In addition to a broad curriculum of videos, live streaming demos, and instructional pdf’s, the course will offer the ability to post your in-progress work in your own individual album along with several interactive zoom coaching calls every week.  Many of us are now faced with the real fact that this may be the absolute best way to use our time and continue to move forward with our painting and our lives.  It’s an opportunity to take your art practice to the next level.  This is an opportunity to take our practice to the next level. 

● Whether subtle or brazen, it’s one of the most powerful tools in your painting arsenal. Learn to use it masterfully. The focus of this term will be on using color in a way that is both powerful and harmonious. By shifting our perspective on how we use color just a bit, we can create scintillating pallets with rich and dynamic color while retaining a strong sense of sophistication and cohesion.

● Color is why I became a painter. I first discovered the brilliant color of the Fauvist paintings back in the late 80’s and my perception of color in my world was forever altered. For the last 20 years, I’ve obsessed over developing new solutions to the application of color in our work.

● In this class, instead of memorizing color palettes and paint brand names, we will take a deep dive into the study of how all color functions. This will give us the freedom to explore and use color in a new and vibrant way. Light and dark, cool and warm, saturated and neutral, once these principles are mastered, the power and effect of what we do with our color choices is limitless. It’s time to play. Find your own artistic voice in the colors you choose. Start this year off by creating paintings that are uniquely your own.
