Fall Plein Air Workshop

Landscape Workshop October 5th – 7th

The smoke has cleared and the fall colors are on their way! Opportunities for stunning landscape paintings are everywhere. We will be working, again from a close friends property nestled in the hills of Talent with views of the valley on every side. We’re surrounded by new vineyards, orchards, fields, and pastures flanked on all sides by the rolling hills of Southern Oregon. If you missed this summers last workshop, here’s another chance to take in the views, clean air and paint!!!

Workshop Description:

I will be painting demos, giving critiques, and discussing the fundamentals of landscape painting throughout this 2 1/2+ day plein air painting workshop. The rolling hills and vineyards are a stunning setting to paint your masterpiece. In this workshop, we will cover the principles of painting and composition with a focus on creating a sense of depth and strong atmospheric perspective in your work. Value, color, and temperature will be emphasized to execute paintings with a powerful design. On Friday evening, we will have a meet & greet on the property with a demo, wine, and discussion. One on one instruction and an open-ended schedule with plenty of time to paint will make this weekend a fantastic opportunity to hone your landscape abilities and to make some great paintings. The workshop will be intensive for all skill levels and limited to a small group of students to ensure that everyone gets personalized instruction.

• Friday, Oct. 5^th 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm – Meet & Greet on location in the hills of Talent at Pi Acres.
  • 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm meet and mingle with wine and appetizers
  • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm intro to landscape workshop, demo,  & supply checklist
• Saturday, Oct. 6^th 8:45am – 12:00pm & 1:00pm – 4:00pm
  • 8:45 am Arrive on location and have some local coffee from the Good Bean
  • 9:00am – 12:00pm Set up and paint
  • 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch break on your own.  Head back into town for a bite, or pack a lunch.
  • 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Back to painting with discussion and demo.  Stay on and paint into the evening.
• Sunday, Oct. 7^th 8:45 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 5:00pm
  • 8:45 am Arrive on location and have some coffee from the Good Bean
  • 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Set up and paint
  • 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch break on your own.  Head back into town for a bite, or pack a lunch.
  • 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Back to painting 
  • 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm critique & end of workshop toast!
