Take Your Work to the Next Level!
Direct painting [also known as alla prima or premier coup painting] refers to a method by which the artist applies each stroke of paint to the canvas with the intention of letting it stand in the picture as part of the final statement.

Gabriel’s weekly studio art class in Talent, OR
Workshop Description
The workshop will focus on getting a solid start with attention paid to the drawing and form of the model. We will then move into application of values and color on the form. A small class size allows for each student to work at their own pace and still receive the instruction they need. I will do a portrait painting demo and answer any questions that come up along the way. Direct painting allows for a vital connection with the subject. Staying constantly present to each brushstroke applied results in a fresh and very dynamic painting.
