Gabriel Mark Lipper’s
Fine Art and Oil Painting Classes March 8th – April 26th

Backstage at the cabaret features- a photo session incorporating two models into a backstage setting, a look at the scene behind the show.  The dancers will be preparing to take the stage in various stages of costumed undress.

We will then focus on creating a painting with limited use of values and color.  This approach will unify the scene and set the mood.  This workshop will be a fantastic way to take you to the next level of composition and portraiture, hope to see you there!

Gabriel Mark Lipper’s
Fine Art and Oil Painting Classes for 2013

The New Year is a perfect time to start from the top.  This term, we will be sharpening our artistic tools and readying ourselves for an exciting year of artistic exploration.  This term will be spent drawing and painting still lifes.  Nothing hones our ability to see like the study of several inanimate objects placed in various interactive spatial relationships. The still life allows us to get quickly beyond our preconceived notions of how we think things are supposed to be, and begin to see them as they are.  The finite nature of these studies forces us to still our minds.  It’s only when we draw and paint from this place of presence, that great art is possible.  I hope that you will join me in slowing down, and digging in to the work at hand.  Weather we’re at the beginning of our artistic journey, or nearing mastery, we all benefit from this exercise.  To the trenches!

Gabriel’s next session to start on Friday, November 9th.

The subject for this term will be: Portrait of an Antique Dealer. We will turn our focus toward composing, staging, lighting, photographing, and finally painting a dramatic and colorful portrait.  The stage has been set, the props aquired, and the model hired.  All you have to do is show up.  Bring your best camera, or don’t.  They’re will be plenty of opportunity for great shots, and plenty of images to share.  We will discuss dramatic use of lighting and color to set the mood for the piece as well as playing with the shapes the model creates. That’s just day one.  The following seven Fridays will be spent bringing  your images to life starting with the use of a construction drawing, applying a strong tonal study, and finishing with briliant color.  Bring it.
